The Virtual World App is built upon from Omlet Arcade platform, specifically focused on VTuber live streaming market. This idea has been presented in Figma prototypes and a video. The purpose is to ensure alignment with the envisioned product among investors and internal team members.

Features

Background

The future social behavior of teenagers might involve using Virtual Characters as their avatars. Omlet Arcade, the game streaming platform, is currently facing the challenge of "highly active users but low revenue." Therefore, we aim to enter the Virtual Industry with the following objectives:

1. Attracting investors from the Virtual-related sector to join.

2. Virtual offers a higher revenue potential compared to game streaming.

Goal

A social and live streaming platform built around virtual characters, where users create their own spaces within the platform. They can use services like text, voice chat, and live streaming to meet new friends.

My Strategy


Given the tight project timeline, my strategy is as follows:

  1. Eye-Catching Design Style: The design style will focus on attracting attention, allowing for slightly exaggerated color schemes and aesthetics.

  2. Prototype: Using a prototype to swiftly convey all the functionalities of this app and enhance user comprehension.

  3. Enhanced Content Visibility for Video Presentation: Since the final outcome will be presented in a video format, all fonts and content will be slightly enlarged to ensure clarity of the interface.

  4. Incorporating Popular UI Patterns: Swiftly analyze information and interaction patterns of current social and community platforms' homepages, leveraging trending gestures like the downward swipe seen on platforms like TikTok.

  5. Frequent Alignment Checks: Regularly touch base with the Project Manager (PM) and the other two design colleagues to ensure the correctness of the chosen direction. (Alignment checks every 4 hours)

By implementing this strategy, I aim to deliver a captivating and comprehensive mockup to the relevant stakeholders within the given three-day timeframe.

Cross-axis analysis

We analyze the target market and related competitors based on the dimensions of "revenue" and "active users," we found out that Omlet Arcade has high number of active users but low revenue. The summarized reasons for low revenue could be as follows:

  • Most of our users are teenagers with limited purchasing power.

  • A portion of the platform's users, particularly those who enjoy playing Minecraft, lacks a clear spending motivation within the platform.

  • Some users base in low Average Revenue Per Paying User (ARPPU) countries.

  • Economic sanctions have resulted in reduced revenue from high ARPPU countries like Russia.

  • As COVID-19 restrictions in various countries are gradually easing, students are returning to schools for classes, leading to a significant decline in the timing of app usage.


Overview of related competitors with monthly revenues exceeding 1 million, excluding emerging AI-related services, Reality 2D virtual character live streaming and ZEPETO social platform emerge as frontrunners. Not only do they exhibit high user engagement, but they also possess a strong spending capacity within the platform.

Insights

1. Make Friends - Socializing Category:

Platforms that focus solely on real-person matching and chatting without community management tend to have monthly revenues below 500,000. However, IMVU stands out with a revenue of 2.04 million, possibly attributed to the intricate scenes and accessories in its virtual store, which attract user purchases.

Yubo, a video socializing platform, has a monthly revenue of 1.38 million despite lower user activity. The study will delve deeper into its user demographics and business model. The current paid features include unlocking more user information or exposure through traditional payment methods.

2. Virtual Character Category:

Some platforms offer virtual characters with their own spaces (homes) for users to decorate and purchase items.

Platforms like Reality and Mirrativ in the live streaming category do not emphasize virtual character spaces; they focus on specialization and audience interaction methods, along with donation features.

Highrise, Reality, and Mirrativ all incorporate gacha (random capsule toy) systems. Mirrativ even allows users to try on virtual clothing.

3. VTuber Category:

Platforms like ZEPETO, Reality, and Mirrativ adopt a Japanese-Korean hybrid style. Mirrativ might have lower user activity, but it boasts high revenue

4. AI Category:

Platforms in the AI chat sector typically have monthly revenues exceeding 1 million.

Competitor Analysis

The above table presents the data performance of market leaders in various categories. These platforms demonstrate varying revenue and user engagement levels, each offering unique features tailored to different user preferences. The analysis provides insight into the strategies that contribute to their success.

Style Definition
we are following design trends by dark background and high-saturation gradients. The blue-purple color scheme has consistently been favored by OM platform users. Also use large rounded elements, neon elements that are popular among teenagers, aiming to create a futuristic virtual world ambiance.

User Experience

For now, the registration process has been overly complex. The new Virtual World aims to seamlessly integrate players into the community simplest steps. Therefore, the original eight-step process has been condensed into four simple steps.
